Kyoto: Day 1 & 2a

We left Hagi Monday morning and met our friends, Kiyoko and her husband, in Yamaguchi and traveled there together. They were extremely kind to us and made our trip wonderful. The first day, they took us to the Golden Pavillion, Kinkaku-ji. It was a bit rainy, but I think it added to the atmosphere!


A random "What?!" picture: the smallest crosswalk in the world (I say), lol. Yes, we had to stand there and wait for it to change so we could walk the 5 feet to the other side.
The next day, we visited Kiyomizu-dera and Ginkaku-ji. SO gorgeous!





We met our friend Kiyoko and her husband at the shinkansen station
That night we took a bus tour through Gion and saw a performance of several different types of traditional theater entertainment, including maiko (geisha apprentice). Gion is famous for their geisha.
